We
hope your holidays were fabulous! For the shop we have to say, thanks
to everyone's wonderful support, this year was much better for us than
our last year when everyone was sunken so deeply in financial fear.
Our sympathies to those who have found themselves and their families
hit hard.
I think that one positive thing that has come from this recession is that many people have gotten back to the more important things- spending time with family and giving a hand to those in need, and lets be honest- much more sensible spending. It was worth us floundering a bit while everyone took stock. We are hopeful that the future will be a brighter one for everyone all around, and its our sincere hope that our own improved sales are a reflection on things getting just a little better for our customers as well..
Even though the snow will sit on the ground here in Buffalo a bit longer, we can still sense spring in the air! The new workshops have begun and we're squeezing in as much as we can before the summer antics begin (which in the same token make running classes impossible while everyone here plays hookie for the nice weather!)
New stock keeps coming in. There's been a boon of work from local artisans- great one of a kind pieces. Which unfortunately don't lend themselves well to posting here, but are well worth coming to the shop to see.
Our evasive Druid buddy, Dreoilin *finally* brought in some of his amazing ritual pieces, many in antler- pendants, wands and staffs with more to come.
We now carry some really cool amulets made by Amber Dragonfire- each one made from found objects, beach glass and bits of totem animals, humanely collected.
Also from Rowan StarOwl some beautiful hand made necklaces and bracelets- these have also been wildly popular because of the quality of both the stones and workmanship that have gone into them.
And from Whimsical Pixie we've gotten both miniature portable altars- which fly out as quickly as we get them in- all completely hand made and stunning milfoil design.
Gretchen's limited print books are now available in our shop as well. For a complete list of her publications at: http://www.coronaluci.com
Stock is up at the shop folks- all your regular favorites are here! ###################~
It's Class Time at Strange Brew Once Again!
Gretchen, Donata, Paul E. and Dreoilin are ready and raring to go with plenty of great new ideas. We hope you can join them for the coming adventures!
Check our 'Services' section for the full Class schedule! We just couldn't resist squeezing in a few more classes!
We've got field trips on Saturday mornings, as a new series of classes through SIA.
Classes!
Gretchen
will be running Saturday fieldtrips, the spring will be dedicated to spring flowers and more.
Check the schedule in our services section for further details and
dates.
Now that the holiday season is over and spring is just around the corner, Gretchen will be doing a series of new workshops. She'll be
running 14 sessions on 'The Teaching Spells'(Voudon), a series called
"Magical Stones", and more. Again check the schedule for details- some
really interesting things are in the mix.
Also,
we've got Paul running an expanded version of his Tarot workshop,
Donata introducing the foundations of Shamanism and Dreoilin with a
series on the Celtic faith's practices.
We'll post the
finalized details as soon as we get them. Call the shop if you want to
be notified by phone of the start dates or to sign up. 716-871-0282
These will be running Wednesday nights at Strange Brew.
What's going on here? Where is the old 'Brew?
As
you may have noticed there's been an extreme change in our website
format. We've switched providers to Ocean (wonderful company, by the
way). This will give us here at the shop a lot more freedom to bring
you the latest updates and even 'one of a kind' items. We've also
got some really cool plans to make the shopping experience fun and
educational. To start, our herb list will now contain folk names and
magical uses- starting with the basics, but I plan on expanding this
further once we've got things set up. Be sure to check out the
Book of Shadows while you can, for a little teaser. This baby will be
going into hiding soon and you'll have to know where to look to find it
;-)
Here's hoping your days are blessed and that we see you soon~ Chimene at Strange Brew/The Cauldron
